When the summer transfer market in 2022 has not yet closed, Real Madrid has soon completed the upgrade of the squad. With the existing force, how will coach Carlo Ancelotti let Real play in the 2022/23 season?
Aurelien Tchouameni and Antonio Rudiger were two significant acquisitions made by Real Madrid this summer, although neither one comes with any promises.
Many of the greatest teams in Europe pursued Tchouameni, but Los Blancos was able to sign him for the staggering sum of €80 million from Monaco.
Commenting on Ruediger and Tchouameni, Real’s captain said: “The arrival of Ruediger and Tchouameni of course helps to increase the quality of the Real squad. In my opinion, Real could not have found a better choice than this couple in the transfer market.
“Both Rudiger and Tchouameni are excellent players. Tchouameni is essentially still a very young person with a lot of promise. The US trip will be used to evaluate and assemble the group.”
“Team competition is the secret to success, in my opinion. It takes time for Rudiger and Tchouameni to acclimatize because they are newbies. However, given that their level has been confirmed, I believe the familiarization stage will conclude fast “coach Ancelotti added.
Rudiger, who arrived from Chelsea for free, was substantially less expensive in the meanwhile. However, both will need to compete for a berth on the team. Diario AS reports that Carlo Ancelotti has decided that both will begin the season on the bench.
This is fairly comprehensible in the case of Tchouameni given the struggle for positions in midfield. He might become the most costly impact replacement ever, though.
Rudiger was not positioned in the starting lineup as many had anticipated, though. However, Ancelotti informed the media in the preseason that he didn’t want to change his central defensive pairing of David Alaba and Eder Militao. As some had suspected, Alaba may go to the left to make room for Rudiger, but he also made it plain that Ferland Mendy was the starting left-back.
Only Ancelotti is aware of how long this situation will remain unchanged. It will nonetheless provide Real Madrid with something they little lacked from previous season—serious competition for positions.
