Andrew is the son of Mitchell Wiggins, who used to play in the NBA but only did so for a short time. He was picked 23rd by the Indiana Pacers in the 1983 draft. He was a 6-foot-4 shooting guard. He was quickly moved to the Chicago Bulls.

Mitchell’s first year was great. He played in all 82 games and averaged 12.4 points, 4.0 boards, and 2.3 assists per game. Even with those stats, he wasn’t seen as one of the best newbies in the league.
Before his second year, he was sent to the Houston Rockets in a trade. Wiggins played for the Rockets for four years and became a good role player. Because he was banned, he missed out on two whole seasons. Mitchell came back to the Rockets and played in 66 games for them in 1989-1990. That was his last year with the Rockets before his playing time started to go down. The next season, he didn’t play for any team because no one signed him up. The Philadelphia 76ers were the only team to give him a chance. He played 49 games for the Philadelphia 76ers, which was the last NBA team he played for before going overseas to play basketball. Andrew Wiggins had to be away from the team for personal reasons during the 2022–23 season. The reason he was gone turned out to be a very important matter. His father, Mitchell, reportedly had a major illness, so the NBA star took a leave of absence. It hurt the team’s record, but the team’s management knew that the one-time All-Star had to put his father’s health first at the time.
