Xavi is proud of his students

Nico Gonzalez’s temporary departure to Valencia is seen as a very brave gesture. It was this player who decided to move to develop himself in the hope of having a prominent position in the Barca squad in the next decade. To realize this ambition, Nico had to convince coach Xavi Hernandez a lot to receive his approval.

Spanish media reported that the 20-year-old young talent took two negotiations with Xavi to complete a move to Valencia. The first time he made an offer, the Barca captain immediately refused because he wanted to see how the 2002 midfielder performed in the club’s pre-season friendlies.

In the US, Nico was used as a replacement for the position of Sergio Busquets. However, with Miralem Pjanic having stayed at Camp Nou, it is clear that the 20-year-old star has to find himself a new team to get regular minutes. Therefore, after watching Nico, Xavi understood the situation and decided to give him the opportunity to leave Camp Nou to “study abroad”. The Spanish strategist believes that it is a great courage for his student to understand what is good for his career.

Nico will be led by Gennaro Gattuso – one of the best defensive midfielders of all time at Valencia. This will help him develop the defensive skills that will be essential in Barca’s midfield in the years to come. Moreover, Nico can thanks to that catch the “green eye” of Spain coach Luis Enrique.

The former La Masia academy prodigy is expected to sign a new loan deal with Valencia in the coming hours. At the same time, his agent is also extending a new contract with Barca. Nico’s current contract will end in 2024.

Umtiti “tears” for Barca

Many people have long realized that Samuel Umtiti ‘s service is no longer needed at Barca. The French player is also aware of his current situation. Despite receiving many offers from Italy and Turkey, Umtiti is still trying to reunite with club Lyon this summer, according to sources from SPORT.

The 28-year-old midfielder knows Lyon are also looking for a new player for this team’s defence. Many years of experience in France is a good condition for Umtiti to confidently be recruited by Lyon. He also wants to return to a familiar destination to try to save his career.

So far, Lyon have decided to buy back their old players like Corentin Tolisso from Bayern Munich and Alexandre Lacazette from Arsenal on free transfers. Both Tolisso and Lacazette are great friends with Umtiti and will welcome him with open arms.

The only thing that made Umtiti “in tears” was his contract until 2026 with Barca. The French player understands that president Joan Laporta extended for so long just because he wants to delay paying him. The 28-year-old midfielder loves Barca, but perhaps his journey at Camp Nou has come to an end.
