Mbappe enters Ligue 1 history

Kylian Mbappe scored twice to help PSG beɑt Ajaccio 5-0, thereby becoming the second player in history to score 25 goals in four different seasons in Ligue 1.

Paris St Germain moved closer to their 11th Ligue 1 title after beɑting AC Ajaccio 5-0 at home. PSG holds the top of Ligue 1 with 6 points more than the second ranked team when the season only has 3 rounds left. It is highly likely that PSG will continue to successfully defend the championship they are holding.

After the end of 2 weeks of punishment, Lionel Messi returned to the starting line-up of PSG. However, the Argentine superstar did not leave much of an impression when he was closely followed by Ajaccio’s defense. In contrast, Mbappe had an impressive day and set a new record.

The French striker shines brightly when contributing to 3 of 5 goals of PSG. Historically, only 2 players have scored 25 goals in 4 different Ligue 1 seasons: Mbappe (2018-2019, 2020-2021, 2021-2022, 2022-2023) and Thadee Cisowski (1955-1956, 1956-1957 , 1958-1959, 1959-1960).

Mbappe became the first player of the 21st century to score 25 goals in four Ligue 1 seasons and is also currently the top scorer of the tournament. If he continues to maintain his impressive scoring form, Mbappe will have the 5th title of Ligue 1 top scorer.

Mbappe’s first impression in the match against Ajaccio came from a shot in the penalty area but failed. Then, Hakimi was present at the right time to kick back, raising the score to 2-0 for the Parc des Princes home team.

At the beginning of the second half, Mbappe shone with a brace in the 47th and 54th minutes. The first goal came from a close-range shot, while his second goal was a super volley hit the roof of the visitors’ net.

The rest of PSG’s goals were scored by Fabian Ruiz and an own goal by Mohamed Youssouf.
