Dr. Dre’s Astute Investment: Beach Villa Purchased for $4.8 Million in 2000 Skyrockets in Value

The well-known rapper, hitmaker, Beats founder, and multibillionaire Dr. Dre is saying goodbye to his oceanfront retreat of almost two decades. The Compton native,57, is blatantly demanding $20 million for the Malibu residence that was once owned by his ex-wife, Nicole Young.

Even if the mansion sells for far less than the $4.8 million he bought for it in 2000, Dre will still make a tidy profit because Malibu real estate values have increased in the 22 years since then. The three-story mansion’s location on a nearly 7,000 square foot plot of land on Carbon Beach in Malibu, which has developed into one of the priciest neighborhoods in the city, is just one of the mansion’s many distinctive features.

This “contemporary beach estate” “exudes total luxury and sophistication,” according to the description. Built in the early nineties, the lavish home features floor to ceiling glass walls that flood every room with natural light and afford views of the river. Visitors are led from the entry via a tiny lobby into the spacious great room, which is perfect for entertaining.

Sliding glass doors in this room open to a balcony with views of the ocean and a stunning stone fireplace. The entire space is secured by gates, a courtyard-style entrance, and an advanced security system.

A recording studio, a sizable gym, an executive office, a main bedroom featuring a sauna, a carpeted fireplace, a sitting area, a private balcony, a primary closet, and five guest bedrooms are among the other open-concept living areas. This home is among the larger ones on Carbon Beach, at about 9,000 square feet.

Dr. Dre has made previous attempts to sell his Malibu vacation house, which is located next to Nobu Malibu and was occupied by Nicole Young during the contentious divorce of the marriage. Ten years ago, the property along the Pacific Coast Highway was put up for sale for a brief period, with an asking price ranging from $11 million to $12.5 million.

In December, Dre filed for divorce from Young. It was said that he gave her a $100 million lump sum but kept all of their homes for himself, including the $40 million Brentwood estate he purchased from Gisele Bundchen and Tom Brady, the $40 million Malibu mansion, and two Calabasas mansions. According to Forbes, he currently has a $400 million net worth.
